Transgender Miss Universe Canada Finalist Jenna Talackova Disqualified From Competition


Ok, I'm not a fan of posting negative trans posts on our blog as I like to try and keep it full of positive and uplifting trans news. However, this story personally infuriated me and I think it needs to be mentioned. She's amazingly beautiful and has and deserves every right that any other woman has. I will forever be banning Miss Universe and will never watch it again.

Interesting Survey on Gender Choices Amongst Video Gamers


This interesting article shows a promising trend that most gamers in fact do not choose the gender of their characters based on stereotypical binary gender thinking. It shows that gamers who identify as male in real life do not choose female characters for the stereotypical "guy" reasons most people might think. Read more about it in the full article.

Camp Aranu'tiq Fundraiser



Camp Aranu'tiq is a weeklong, overnight summer camp for transgender and gender-variant youth ages 8 through 15. The camp relies solely on private funding for space, food and supplies, and to financially support many of the kids who cannot afford to pay for the camp experience.

Girl Scouts of Colorado Released Statement Welcoming Transgender Youth



“Girl Scouts is an inclusive organization and we accept all girls in Kindergarten through 12th grade as members,” the statement says. “If a child identifies as a girl and the child's family presents her as a girl, Girl Scouts of Colorado welcomes her as a Girl Scout.”

'After Much Soul-Searching,' Ros-Lehtinen Now Supports Repealing 1996 Defense of Marriage Act



Republican Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, whose daughter Amanda came out as a transgender man named Rodrigo, now supports the Respect for Marriage Act. While it's great to see someone like this change and open their mind; it is VERY sad to see most of the current comments on this post from the local community bashing both the GLB and trans lifestyles.
